A Trailblazer in Scottish Gastronomy
Nick Nairn is a distinguished chef and beloved television personality. Before his celebrated culinary career, he served as a navigator in the Merchant Navy. Despite having no formal training, his natural talent and dedication to Scottish produce led him to become the youngest Scottish chef to be awarded a Michelin star.
Nick garnered widespread national recognition through his appearances on BBC’s Ready Steady Cook, which began in 1995. He subsequently presented acclaimed programmes such as Wild Harvest and Island Harvest. In 2000, he established the prestigious Nick Nairn Cook School at the Lake of Menteith, offering immersive classes focused on Scottish culinary techniques and heritage.
Championing Exceptional Local Ingredients
Furthermore, he is the proprietor of Nick’s at Port of Menteith. Situated by the scenic Lake of Menteith, the restaurant provides a refined yet relaxed dining experience, with a menu deeply committed to high-quality, locally sourced ingredients. For this exclusive Four Hands dinner, his reverence for superb produce will seamlessly intertwine with Chef Atul Kochhar’s vibrant, spice-driven Pan-Indian delicacies.
Nick is also the accomplished author of several culinary books, including Island Harvest and Nick Nairn’s New Scottish Cookery. We are honoured to welcome his exceptional talent to our Mayfair dining room for an unforgettable gastronomic collaboration.
