Having stolen the nation’s hearts in The Great British Bake Off, where she reached the final, Crystelle Pereira recently joined Atul Kochhar in the kitchen at Kanishka, for his Sunday Supperclub series.
Born in North London to Kenyan-born, Portuguese-Goan parents, Crystelle loves sharing recipes inspired by her heritage and from her travels around the world, which came across in her unique five-course menu served at Kanishka.
Following an amuse bouche of Bombay mix-crusted halloumi fries with chutney, a fish course comprised expertly prepared Goan prawn curry with white basmati rice, then gorgeous mini hand pies filled with pickle chicken curry. A main of mutton was served in a Xacuti Kathi roll, balanced with fresh slaw and raita, then concluded with a deeply comforting dessert of chai tres leches cake.
